Pushkar Mela (Mela = Fair) is an annual gathering that convenes every year around November/ December at the town of Pushkar in Rajasthan, India. What started as an annual event for cattle traders to exchange camels and cows, has grown into a 7-day extravaganza showcasing the rich culture of the north Indian state of Rajasthan.

I Have to recommend you to check out the main train station in Jodhpur. Honestly it is a must and an adventure, but still it is hard on your nerves! During our stay in Northern India we pretty much stuck to the service of our driver Karma and his beautiful white Ambassador.

Pushkar or "how Shiva became our family-priest", this could be the proper description for this story. Karma, our driver, warned us about this sacred place. There is a holy lake in the centre and basically the city was built around it.

India is exciting but it is wild, maybe because of its wilderness. In the Mandore Park it all comes together. The territory is huge and there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of people there. Not so many foreigners here, so you are watched like a monkey.

When: Best in October, There is a Camel-Fair nearby Just imagine that you are in the middle of the North-Indian Desert. Just for Fun! Then you jump into a Hindu-Temple. Because there is not anything else to do and why are you in India anyway? Like me. We wanted to go to a city which streets had been flooded. But this mischief brought me to the place that flooded my imagination. The Karni Mata Temple close to Bikaner is off from any travel-route, a diamond among travelers.
