Guilin in China is famed for its picturesque landscapes. According to a popular Chinese saying (“桂林山水甲天下”) which means Guilin Mountain and river scenery rank as the best in the world. You have to see it for yourself to believe. This is the place to go if you just want to get away from busy city life and just indulge in the wonders of nature.

This well-preserved canal town, residing on a day trip distance from Suzhou certainly cannot be missed. We've spent almost two days, visiting its promenades, residences, gardens, islands and bridges - all continue to reappear not only in Chinese film productions.

Leaving Hong Kong, we managed to get some snacks for the trip and decided to get on the road too early rather than too late so we hopped on the tube. Took the KCR out to the last stop then followed the masses through immigration and customs and found ourselves spewed out in Shenzhen, China!!

China is quite a country of contrasts. Not only if it comes to mentality and economy but even more so in the geography. I mean it is a vast land and certainly there are differences in the landscape. These differences are best seen in the mountains There are steep and sharp mountains in the north, Flat ones in the Middle, Cliffs in the yangzee and there are the round mountains of Guilin, a region in South-China.
