Jinghong is the capital of Xishuangbanna prefecture and when you'll get out of the bus, you will get an impression that you are more in Laos, then in China: the climate, the look, the people - everything looks "not the same".

Menghai is probably the second biggest town in Xishuangbanna after Jinghong and a a popular transportation hub for the western part of the prefecture.
