Introducing our latest LomoAmigo, TOMS Videographer KC Brown!

KC Brown, one of our buddies at TOMS, is giving us and the Lomography community a taste of his world travels and what it's like to work for TOMS in coordination with our recent #BESHADY rumble for World Sight Day.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
My name is KC Brown and I work in the Film Department at TOMS. I work on the videos here at TOMS, specifically the cultural content that we create. My wife and I just had our first child sixth months ago and we are loving watching little man grow up. I’m sure I’m biased here, but he is definitely the most enjoyable thing in the world to photograph.

What is it like being part of the TOMS team?
I love being a part of the TOMS team. I’ve been here for a little over three years and it’s been great. A big part of my job is getting to know our employees, which is great for me because it gives me the chance to interact with everyone, instead of just sitting at my desk staring at a computer screen all day.

How long have you been into Lomography?
I’m new to the game. This was my rookie campaign.

What was it like shooting with the LC –A+?
I loved it. Digital is great in that it allows you try, try and try again at taking the photo you want, but when I review the pics I’ve always got three and four shots of the same thing and they are all pretty much identical. With the LC-A+, you snap the shot and move on and let the chips fall where they may. It’s strangely freeing. The ease of the double exposure was a ton of fun too, I probably overdid it a little.

Tell us a bit about your photos.
I had the opportunity to go to Paraguay for a week and visit our Sight Giving Partner Fundacion Vision in action, which was incredible. We saw people come in to the clinic on Friday with visual impairments and return on Saturday with their vision restored. The Doctors at FV were great, letting us see first hand how things work there. They even got in on the #BESHADY action too, wearing their shades inside to raise awareness for World Sight Day.

If you could take your Lomography camera anywhere, where would it be?
I’ve traveled a lot over the last ten years and would love to go back to the places I’ve loved and bring the Lomo with me. Bangkok. Rarotonga. Mysore. The café’s in Sarajevo. 63 Fabian Rd for a Sunday night dinner in Fulham. A Roehampton Bats cricket match. Our wedding in Pirongia. Matt’s parents’ villa in Faro. My TOMS giving trip in El Salvador. Basically I wish I had this thing with me everywhere.

And if you could photograph someone with it, who would it be?
I’d love to get some sweet action shots of historical figures in their most iconic moments. Washington crossing the Potomac. MLK giving the I Have A Dream speech. Hank Aaron hitting home run 715. The apple falling on Isaac Newton’s head. Stuff like that.

What would the soundtrack to your photos be?
We only took four albums with us to Paraguay, so the official soundtrack of my photos is definitely Daft Punk, Kanye West, Tom Waits and a ton of Wale.

Any advice for budding Lomographers?
Go for it.
