Once you click into his LomoHome, your eyeballs will probably be attracted by his instant pictures taken with LC-A+ instant back! Let's say hello to Haiz, our Community LomoAmigo from Singapore!

Name: Haiz
LomoHome: muhamad_haiz_shamsudin
Location: Singapore

Hello! In a few words, please introduce yourself!

Hello, friends I’m Haiz from the lovely island of Singapore. I’m a librarian by day and barista by night. It goes without saying that my interests include photography (both digital and analogue), reading and coffee. I’m also quite a film buff!

Can you tell us about your first Lomography experience?

My first Lomography experience would be the awesome Supersampler. I bought it around 2000 at a local bookstore. I had no idea what it is capable of save for a few sampled photos on display and it was the cheapest camera in stock. Once I got the hang of it, I become creative with my shots. From selfies, unique portraits and weird angles, I had a blast! I had it till I had to put it down due to a broken ripcord. I will always have fond memories of it.

How did you like shooting with the LC-A+ Instant back?

The Instant back is a great combination of LC-A+ and instant film photography. User-friendly? Check! Head turner and conversation starter? Check! Instant results? Check! Vignettes? Check! Depth of field? Check! Multiple exposures? Long exposure? Check! And my favourite technique? Macro!

Share one of your favourite photos with us and describe what’s going on in it!

My buddy Vincent and I were having our one of my regular gaming session. I brought my LC-A+ Instant back along as I planned to take macro shots of the miniature figurines. Well, Vincent was instantly intrigued by it and naturally I showed how it was done. He was hooked after taking a shot and immediately seeing the result appearing right before his eyes. He snapped picture after picture, trying to capture the details and just the right angle. Obviously, the YT-1300 aka “Millennium Falcon” is iconic and we wanted to do it justice and we got an amazing shot of the Falcon hard banking to the side. The extremely shallow depth of field gives the illusion of movement. We were pleased with the result and it has since become my most popular photo. Nice one!

If you could bring your cameras and film anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?

Ah, I don’t play favourites. I always carry a random camera in my bag with a roll of film in it for my daily shots around the neighbourhood. For specific Lomowalks, an Canon EOS50 SLR and a “B” camera. I would love to have my cameras to go places, so I loaned out the LC-A+ to my brother for his trip to India. Same goes for films, I love them all. Colour, B&W, slide, instant films all have a place in my heart. Each has its unique characteristics and there’s always something new to discover about these films. Oh, let’s not forget! DIY Redscale!

Any future plans or tips with your LC-A+ Instant back?

Like I’ve mentioned, there’s always something new to learn and discover. The Lomography community is super creative and knowledgeable and it shows in all their Tipsters. It brings new life to the camera and yourself as a photographer in general. It is something I always look forward to and my tips for my fellow LC-A+ Instant shooters. In regards to the Instant back, I would now practice doing instant multiple and long exposures. I would love to see the results. Plus, portraits ala Terry Richardson!

What’s your motto for shooting Lomography?

Keep calm and LOMO on! Adios amigos ☺
