Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?
Hi, everyone, I’m Jet and I work as a Sales Representative. I really enjoy this job because of my flexible schedule that also allows me to spend some time to on my hobbies and interests, such as a brief walk and photo capturing. I would have to say that film photography and diving are my impetus.
Was it love at first sight, with the Lomo LC-Wide?
Yeah. I’ve totally fallen in love with the 17mm super-duper WIDE angle with the three format attachments squeezed into a small body. Unfortunately, I regret not purchasing when it first came out. This was only because the Lomo LC-Wide was launched a month after I had bought LC-A+ Russian Lens. It was so sad.
Tell us about the lovely photos in your latest album LCW -o2? How did you do it?
Well, I was invited by one of my diving friends because he needed an assistant to guide the model and help him during his underwater photography shoot. It was an extremely great experience & I was excited to do my first underwater shooting with a female model. My regular routing for diving is I’ll put up my diving mask and my snorkel. Similarly, I do the same thing during the underwater shooting. This practice made it much easier to hold my breath longer under a much deeper pool. Besides that, it is also to make sure I can concentrate on every movement and angle of the model as you go deeper in a pool.
For that matter, you have many shots near or in “Water”. Any special reasons why?
Yeah. I’m a diver and I love marine life. This is the reason why I always bring along my LC-A+ or Lomo LC-Wide with the Lomo LC-A+ Krab Underwater Housing whenever I go diving. Although underwater photography isn’t a novelty, I think this is a NEW concept for Lomography. I’ve always wanted to challenge and compare underwater Digital Cameras and my LC-A+ or Lomo LC-Wide with the Lomo LC-A+ Krab Underwater Housing. I just wanted to prove that FILM can also perform very well under the depth of 20m with pressure.
What does being a “Lomographer” mean to you? And, how long have you been one?
Hmmm.. It’s to increase the level of fun in life and to bring about some features such as the effect of brightness, contrast, dark corners and vintage color. Although digital can be edited by using Photoshop, the developments of film effects always bring you unexpected surprises. I’ve been a Lomographer for about two and half years.
If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your Lomo LC-Wide, who would it be and why?
I’d have to choose Audrey Hepburn. It all started with an advertisement I saw recently for the Galaxy Chocolate. I totally fell in love with the perfect facial features of a pretty girl who is “Audrey Hepburn”. She has sweet voice in the song of “Moon River”. Since then, I’ve also learned that she was the original singer.
If you had to pick, which picture would be your favourite and why?.
If I had to pick, it would have to be this one. I love this photo because the angle captured three layers of color. Moreover, the model’s expression is just simple yet perfect.
Name your favorite filims to shoot with on the Lomo LC-Wide?
Lomography X-Pro Chrome 100 35mm is my favorite. This is because of the consistency of stability of its color tone whenever I take it for cross processing.
Any future plans or trips with your Lomo LC-Wide?
I will try to capture more underwater portraits and marine life pictures in the further depth of 20m in my coming diving trip.
Any advice for future/current LC-Wide photographers?
All you need to do is just take a few extra steps further until you find the perfect angle to shoot, because Lomo LC-Wide is super-duper WIDE. You’ll capture unnecessarily things surround without bravely stepping further.
