We have the honor of introducing Lomography Spain's next LomoAmiga, the designer María Barros. With her own style and an incomparable talent, she is going to customize our Spanish LomoAmigo's first Sardina DIY. Keep reading to know every single detail…
Meet the designer
Maria Barros is a designer born in La Coruña. She studied at Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and wrote her dissertation under Franca Sozanni’s supervision, Vogue Italy director. When she was only 21, she won the “Moët&Chandon Young Fashion Award” to best European young designer, award granted in collaboration with the Italian Camera Nazionale della Moda. She has worked with different designers such as Roberto Cavalli in Florence, Modesto Lomba in Madrid or Pupi Solari in Milan until 2003, when she created her own brand.
She has presented her collections in different international catwalks, such as Pasarela Gaudi in Barcelona or Milan Fashion Week. Maria Barros sees design as a multidisciplinary study. Therefore she also works in other fields. That is how her furniture collection “Couture” was born; a collection in which fashion concepts fuse in order to be global and understood by the interior design way of thinking.
She has collaborated in many international advertising campaigns and in 2009 the magazine Capital named her one of the most influential personalities in Spain and the most influential one in the design world leading the list of Spanish 100 most promising young people.
In 2012, Maria Barros became a member of the Spanish Fashion Designers Association (Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España, ACME), formed by the Spanish main fashion brands. Her collections currently are in various multibrand shops in Spain, Italy, USA, Russia and Arabia.
María Barros and the Mercedes Fashion Week Madrid
Since February 2009, she is present at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. This year she presented her last collection on September 2th in Madrid and Lomography was part of the experience.
A luxury LomoAmiga
A couple of weeks ago we got in contact with María Barros to ask her if she wanted to be part of the amazing group of LomoAmigos and since then she has been working on the customization of our beautiful Sardina DIY. We can’t show the final result yet, but it will surely make tongues wag! For the moment, we invite you to take a look at her sketches.
