He isn’t someone who is new to photography, in fact, his way of living is directly connected to it. Living a creative life, Homer surely embraces analogue!

Coming from Ireland, homer or Paul Murphy outside, has been a member of the Community for quite some time already — taking lots of inspiring Lomographs and saying his hello’s to this group of Lomographers we have!

But when the LomoKino arrived, a part of his analogue life changed excitedly! Read more about homer and his LomoKino in our interview.

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

I’m a 27 year old creative junkie; whether it’s photography, music or writing, I give much of my time over to the demands of my creative juices. I work as a picture editor in Sportsfile, Ireland’s top sports photo agency and I’m a founding member of Dublin Street Photographers.

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?

Lomography started for me when I came across a Diana on a poster design. A few day’s later I saw the same camera in the window of my local photo shop so I bought it. My first uploads in the Community were in March 2010.

Describe the LomoKino in five words.

Fun, funky, exciting, simple & surprising.

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?

I love shooting with it! Loading it can be difficult when you’re in a rush to capture something, but once it’s loaded it’s great fun — so easy to use and a really nice experience. I’ve spent a lot of time working with video cameras so it’s such a nice relief to shoot movies on film with a hand crank.

What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?

My girlfriend got it for me as a Christmas gift.

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?

Nothing too off the cuff but when I was skiing with it last Christmas I did get a great deal of strange looks when I ditched the ski poles and took off down the mountain winding the LomoKino. It was an eye-opener, I’ll have to do it again because I shot more skyline than ski slope.

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?

It would have to be Gil Scott-Heron. Although his voice and words are what people instantly recognise about him, he would have been an amazing person to capture through a LomoKino.

Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie you love the most.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?

A full length feature film would be great to do or even something about 20 minutes long if only I could find suitable actors and come up with a good story. I’d love to get behind the scenes access at a music festival to shoot a festival documentary with it.

Your advice to future LomoKino users.

Get it, experiment with it, make mistakes but most of all don’t be intimidated if it’s your first time shooting motion, it’s a whole new world and great fun!
