Catching Up with LomoAmiga Candice O'Donnell

Candice O'Donnell's images are like a ray of sunshine with a balmy breeze. After two years we caught up with Candice and got a peek at her latest analogue shots. Want to know what she's been up to, read on below.

The community met you back in September of 2010, what have you been doing since then?

Traveling a lot, competing in amazing new locations such as China, getting creative in the shaping bay, taking lots and lots of photos, modeling, presenting, recording in the studio, collaborating with like minded creative folk on new and exciting projects, and generally evolving and learning each day.

What role has analogue photography played in your life in the past two years?

I’m a super visual person so when I see a moment that speaks to me I want to capture that moment forever. Analogue photography is an extension of that creativity.

What aspects of analogue photography draw you to the medium?

It’s so unpredictable yet on the other hand you are the one controlling it with choice of film, exposure, composition etc. I will admit that I have been shooting digital photos along side analogue over the last few years, but shooting exclusively on film brings a flavor to each image that digital can’t capture.

Tell us about this new set of photographs, what is the subject of this group of images.

Here you have a selection of lifestyle images from the Vans Shoes surf trip to California I did with a group of 4 alternative surfer guys.
Riding all types of wave craft and simply finding the stoke in and out of the water.
This trip was Three weeks on the road traveling up and down the Californian coast in an RV in search for waves, catching up with friends and also making new ones. These photos capture an essence of life on the road.

Describe your photographic aesthetic in a maximum of two sentences.

I want to capture what I see, whether it’s beautiful or not, so long as it makes you feel something other than nothing.

What’s on the horizon for you?

I am fortunate enough to be working with great people and my Sponsors Roxy, Vans, Hawaiian Pro Designs, Olympus, Keep A Breast Foundation, National Trust, and Surfers against sewage. We have some exciting new projects on the Horizon I cant wait to share.

Check out Candice’s Tumblr for more great images and videos.
