The Black Lips are one of the coolest garage rock bands around: often outrageous and provocative, these four guys from Atlanta have become popular thanks to their hit "Bad Kids", which was also featured in the soundtrack of the movie 500 Days of Summer. We met them at their gig in Brescia, Italy, where we collected the films they shot during their Italian tour. Jared Swilley, bass and vocals, also answered a couple of questions for us. Enjoy!
Are you familiar with Lomography and analogue photography in general?
I wasn’t familiar with Lomography before, but I am now. I prefer analogue photography over digital.
How did you like it to shoot with our Diana Mini?
I loved it. It was fun and the camera looks cool.
If your photos taken with our camera here could have a soundtrack of three songs, which ones would they be (song title & artist please)?
Bad Girl part 2 by Lee Moses
I want you around by the Ramones
Hitch Hike by the Rolling Stones
If you could take your Diana Mini and a sack of films anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
On a beach in Namibia because I have never been there and I could probably get some good shots.
The one person (living or deceased) you would most like to photograph.
Living: Ted Turner or Little Richard; deceased: Rasputin,
Your advice to future Diana Mini shooters.
Don’t lose your films!
Thank you guys!
And here’s a gallery of some more photos I took during their gig in Brescia, with a LC-A+, enjoy!
