Community LomoAmigo Opal Shoots in Monochrome with His LomoKino

It is natural to choose black and white especially when you hail Charlie Chaplin as your dream person to film. It takes you back to a lovely nostalgia, one that requires a lot of imagination with a pinch of emotion!

And that’s what Olivier or opal in our Community dreams of — that and tons of film to fulfill his LomoKino journeys!

Read on our interview with him and take a glimpse of his cool LomoKino movies!

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

I’m OPAL (in Lomography.) I’m a photographer. I work at Kodak Express Nation, a photo lab partner of Lomography. I just love using Lomographic cameras.

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?

Since 2000. I found out about the Community when I used a Lomo camera through a competition with the Holga. Since then, I always take a Lomo camera with me.

Describe the LomoKino in five words.

The Lomokino is simple, fun, funny, dreamlike, and alive.

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?

Here’s a story: At the birth of my daughter, I took out a Super8 and desired to remake film. Then the Lomokino was released and the process seemed like doing a very simple movie. Also, the Lomokino offers a multitude of effects due to different Lomography films. I used lots of color film at first but now I only use black and white films.

What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?

It is the need to master the Lomokino that pushes me to continue and seek to exploit all the possibilities offered by the camera.

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?

Depending on the speed of travel that may seem like slips.

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be?

Charlie Chaplin! With the Kodak 400 TX.

Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie you love the most.

There are many but I like the work of Satomi.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?

I think I’ll use the LomoKino with more films to make a longer LomoKino movie.

Your advice to future LomoKino users.

Be careful to pass the film on the roll and check your framing (no too much sky or feet !)
