Lomogracinha's Julie Garcia website Having Fun With the LomoKino

She was one of the very first Brazilians to got to try the LomoKino and now she's here to share with us her experiences, tips, and tricks about this analogue beauty which makes movies with 35mm films. Without much ado, please meet the Brazilian blogger Julie Garcia from the Lomogracinha website.

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?
My name is Julie, I’m a social communication student and work as a translator. I love going to the beach, playing with my dog, reading, and obviously – taking photographs!

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?
My boyfriend got me a Diana F+ for Christmas in 2008, but I didn’t take it too seriously at first. Then, I started checking out pictures from other lomographers and fell in love with it…

Describe the LomoKino in five words.
Magical, fun, surprising, beautiful, amazing!

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?
It’s amazing! It’s like being sent to another dimension, you have no idea if your movie will be good until you develop the film and sometimes that can take too long and you can miss something forever, but watching something a few days after you got it ‘recorded’ makes it all special… This feeling is just great!

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?
At first, I got a film and put it on the camera, tried shooting but found out the film was stuck inside of it because I did it wrong… So, I got help from the guys at the lomography store in Sao Paulo and ended up losing my first film… After that, I learned the lesson! (and had to tell my friends that their participation on my movie wouldn’t come true because of my mistake… Lol)

If you could have any person alive or dead (or imaginary) star in you LomoKino movie, who would it be and why?
I would love to film The Clash playing and make a music video with that. I LOVE the band and it would be awesome to have a movie with them.

Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie you love the most:

Any future plans with your LomoKino? A music video or a short film?
Planning on shooting a music video right now, the hard part is to pick one song to be part of it!

Your advice to future LomoKino users.
Don’t be shy, don’t plan too much!
