Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil is our Holiday LomoAmigo Jorgesato. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that most of his snapshots are so vibrantly-colored and festive. Come and say hi!

Could you begin by telling us a little about yourself – Maybe an interesting fact people might not know about you?
My friends usually say that I shoot like a “maniac” all the time. I really don’t know if I deserve this merit but to be honest, yeah… I take tons of photos and it’s impossible to control it. Would it be an analogue disease?

Hmm… an interesting fact? When I’m going to shoot in a hardcore way such as traveling or during a traditional festival, I try to wear clothes with a bunch of pockets because I hate to look for my little precious in the backpack while an amazing and unique moment is just happening in front of me.

How long have you been into Lomography and how did you discover it?
I remember starting in 2008 with a Fisheye 2.0, trying to figure out what lomography was and how it was possible to get so nice saturated colors in the photos. When I found the lomo community, I felt it would be impossible not to participate in it and here we are.
I discovered it looking for some photographic references on the web. As a photographer it’s very important to know and understand what is happening in the photography, design and art market.

What are your plans for the winter holidays?
I think I’m going to travel with my family (I usually do that). I believe it’s a nice tradition to celebrate with the family during the winter holidays and guess what? Of course I’m always the official photographer of the trip. Sometimes my parents look at the MX photos and ask something like " – I’m confused… where am I in this photo?" and then I answer something like “…this is the Lomographic way of life”.

Any New Year’s resolutions for 2012?
Oh yes! I’m going to try to exhibit some of my personal projects in Brazil and abroad using lomo cameras and some TLR cameras such as Rolleiflex, Yashica D an Mat. All analogue! There is another one but this resolution was for 2008, I think: start to work out at the gym. As I walk all the day during the trips carrying much weight, sometimes more than 6 cameras (some of them of metal), once the doctor said I’d have to work out… People say 2012 is the end of the world, it can be the start of the gym as well.

If you could recommend one movie and one song to everyone, what would they be?
It’d be Amélie Poulain because of its unique and vivid aesthetics as well as its interesting and clever plot. Music, it’d be any of Sigur Rós. They’re peaceful and beautiful even not understanding the lyrics. If you have the chance, check out the Glósóli music video, it’s a masterpiece and was the reason why I had to travel to Iceland.

What’s your favorite analogue camera to shoot with?
Lomo LCA+ RL for sure! No doubt about that. I love it so much, especially because of the Splitzer, a small and amazing piece that gives you the power of create realities.

What’s the next camera you’d like to get your hands on?
Lomo LC-Wide would be an awesome Christmas present. Shooting Santa Claus on wide-angle lens must be memorable! La Sardina is quite cool as well. Santa, I was a good boy this year, please I want all of them! :)

What’s your favorite memory from this year?
This one is easy. Shoot your Prophecy trip! It was unforgettable to visit the Lomo HQ, meeting all the nice people there and have the opportunity to make my own lomowall with the photos of Vienna. It was my first trip to Europe, then I decided to extend it in order to get to know some countries, shooting non-stop as usual. Consequences of it : almost 100 film rolls to get developed.

And now for the toughest question – What’s been your favorite photo from the past year?
Yeah, this one is quite tough. All photos are part of the family and they have the power of keeping memories and emotions alive, then it’s quite difficult to choose just one among thousands. But I believe it’s one taken in Rio de Janeiro: a splitzer of Christ and the public admiring the landscape. That day was special.
