LomoAmigo Magrao from Guillemots shoots on the Diana F+

Magrao is one quarter of Brit Award nominated indie rock band Guillemots. Since their stonking gig in our East London Gallery Store we just had to see what they've been up to, so we primed Magrao with A Diana F+ and film, and here's what happened.

Name: McLord Magrao
Age: 32
Location: London

How did you become Guillemots?
I met Fyfe through a musicians wanted advert In a music magazine, i replied To him saying that I played typewriter and match box. He thought It was great. We met for a coffee and talked about music, films and life in general. After that we started to meet up at his or mine every week to play music and gradually it become Guillemots.

What’s the best part of being a rockstar?
Dont know about ‘rockstar’, but I get to do what i love the most- especially playing music with Guillemots

and the worst?
I can’t complain, i could still being washing dishes In a restaurant somewhere.

Where were your photos taken?
In the van on the way to shows, at home when I am with my daughter, backstage with the band…

Are you a keen lomographer or are you new to this whole thing?
I normally use my old slr. I love film cameras but i’m new to this.

What did you think of the camera?
To start with I wasn’t sure about the limitations, but they actually become the best part of it on a creative level. Basically its my new favourite toy!

If your photos could have a soundtrack, what would it be? (3 songs, title and artist please)
Here We Go by Jon Brion
Big in japan by Tom Waits
Down by the water by PJ Harvey

If you could photograph anything in the world (person, place, moment, whatever) what would it be?
Werner herzog, peace

What’s coming up next in your world?
We are going to norway to do some recording, doing a European, South American and UK tour, i’m trying to finish two short films that I have been working on plus a couple more things….

Keep up with Magrao’s adventures on the Guillemots website
