REAL NAME: Zara Martin
Tell the community a little bit about yourself? What do you do for fun and is it the same thing you do for a living?
My name is Zara Martin. When I’m not being asked if I own Zara, the shop (funny. NAHT), or if I’m related to Holly Valance – I’m a TV presenter, and sometimes, model. I love my job, it’s lots of fun. But honestly, I spend most of my spare time sitting on a sofa with lots of food for company. I’m really selling myself well here!
How long have you been a lomographer or are you new to this whole thing?
I bought my first Diana in a jealous fit after seeing a friend’s amazing Lomography images. That was some time ago now, but I still feel like such a rookie.
Whats the attraction to instant photos?
I’m awfully impatient.
Your shots are taken all over the world, even in Dubai! Is your life as glamorous as it seems?
No. “Lame” or “Grandma Martin” are my nicknames, according to my lovely friends!
What was the strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest photographic/Lomographic encounter you have had?
I thought the hottest guy in the world was making eyes at me, but as it turns out, it was my camera he had the hots for.
If your photo selection had a soundtrack what would it be? (3 songs title & artist please)
The Pierces – Turn on Billie
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Household Goods
Jay Z – Lucifer
You put a lot of photography on your blog, what got you into it in the first place?
Without sounding too pretentious, I think photography is such a powerful art form. I have a huge amount of respect for photographers and have been lucky enough to have been shot by some GREAT ones. Standing in front of a camera quite often inspired me to pick one up and see what I could do with it.
If you could shoot anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Gloria Swanson in character as Norma Desmond from 50’s movie, Sunset Boulevard. Wow, that’s specific.
What’s coming up in the life of Zara Martin?
I start a new presenting job soon, my fashion collaboration (a seven piece capsule collection) with cult-label, BodyAmr, hits the shops next year AND I have some cool stuff going on with the modeling side of things too. It’s all a bit exciting!
