For someone who is a modern hippie just like Nina, after meeting the Lomo LC-A+ for the first time, she instantly fell for it's psychedelic results! It's indeed a cosmic convergence for them both!

REAL NAME Nina Westervelt
How long have you been a Lomographer?
Nina Westervelt: As soon as I graduated from photojournalism school in 2003, I moved to NYC and bought my first LOMO LC-A+ for the ride. After years in the photo program shooting with digital SLRs for the newspaper, I needed to remember why I fell in love with photography. As soon I smelled that rich Lomo scent for the first time, it was as though we’d been together our entire lives.
Describe the LC-A+ in five words.
NW:intoxicating, thrilling, spicy, SOUL MATE
The strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest photographic/Lomographic encounter that you have ever had.
NW: Working in the fashion industry, there’s nothing I love more than attending a show with my LOMO LC-A+ in hand. The end of the runway is cramped with hundreds of photographers gripping their giant 500mm lenses. And there I am, smiling with my Lomo, waiting for the models to pass me by.
If your photos shown here could have a soundtrack of three songs, what would they be (song title & artist please).
NW: Harry Nilsson- me & my arrow, Paul Simon- kodachrome andThe Bee Gees- to love somebody
Digital or Analog? Why?
NW: *A*N*A*L*O*G- there’s no denying the richness of film. I long for the saturation, the soft blurs, the sharp contrast. It’s the unpredictability of analog, and that tingly feeling as I walk to the lab to pick up my negatives. It’s the ability to experiment with a variety of films, the cross processing— sure you can recreate this with digital, but you simply won’t get the same psychedelic results.
If you could be anywhere, doing anything, right now – where would it be and what would you do?
NW: I’d like to get in a time machine with my LOMO LC-A+ and go on tour with some of my favorite musicians from the 60’s and 70’s. Spend some time with Neil Young on his ranch making photos. Maybe journey over to Rishikesh with Donovan and the Beatles. Sing love songs with Cat Stevens. Hop on a jet with the Stones. And end my adventure rocking with ELO.
The absolute best restaurant in your town – something authentic, delicious, and not too pricey. Name & address please.
NW: I’m a Thai food addict, so I would recommend Cheers Thai in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Can’t beat their lunch specials and their fabulous backyard during the summer.

Things about the LOMO LC-A+ that you love & adore.
NW:I definitely adore it’s small size because it’s so unobtrusive, and quiet! It captures a moment in its true, raw form, and no one even notices I’ve snapped my shutter. I love the LOMO LC-A+ because I can make a photo of something very ordinary in my day and my little machine spices it up! I could simply photograph the items on my grocery list and the LOMO LC-A+’s extra features would only enhance the excitement. The flexibility of the this camera really shines. I love having the option to push my film up to 1600, and I just can’t stop pressing the new multiple exposure lever. It’s a real blast!
Your advice to future LC-A+ Lomographers.
NW: Embrace your mistakes! Overexpose it, underexpose, close your eyes…just point your Lomo to the sky and don’t look back.
