Chiswick House and Gardens

Visit this not-so-well-known park that partly inspired the architecture of New York's Central Park!

About two weeks ago I went on a little stroll, scouting for photo locations. Let me tell you, I was more than pleasantly surprised once I got to Chiswick Park. A quiet oasis with a wonderful Jane Austen flair to it, my mind was at peace. It has everything you need to have a great day out at the park: plenty of trees, a wonderful little water point, and a delightful cafe. You can even go and take a garden tour – there’s a wonderful greenhouse inside the park.

The Garden was built by Lord Burlington and William Kent in 1729 and is the perfect place for some wonderful romantic shots.

And if it was good enough for The Beatles, then it’s definitely good enough for us! In May 1966, they filmed a pair of promotional videos for the singles “Paperback Writer” and “Rain” there. The Beatles shot their videos at the Conservatory, the Walled Garden, and in front of the Exedra.

Don’t forget to drop by the Chiswick House to see the lead sphinx, which was originally situated in the gardens, as well as the other wonderful architecture, sculptures, and art pieces.
