Tales from the Trip: Lights and Lines

As intrepid travelers, we don't only search for an adventure or a change of scenery -- we also seek to capture fascinating moments in photographs and tell the compelling stories behind them. In this new series for the Locations section, we showcase some of the most fascinating travel photos by our fellow lomographers, along with their tales from the trip.

Today’s travel story is one I can totally relate to, as the memories of my first solo travel are still fresh in my mind. Curious about the trips and journeys of my closest friends, I asked one of them, shhquiet, to share with me an interesting and memorable tale from her travels. She proceeded to tell me about her first solo trip, most likely because she saw how ecstatic I’ve been about my own recent adventures.

Anyway, here’s a snapshot from her trip to Hong Kong years ago, and the story behind it:

“Four years ago, I traveled alone to watch The Flaming Lips in Hong Kong. Armed with a map and my Lomo LC-A+, capturing pretty neon lights as I walked around aimlessly, I felt accomplished and liberated as it was my first time to travel alone. I fell asleep in the bus, got off the wrong stop past midnight in the freezing cold, and missed my stop on the way to the airport. Fun times, indeed.”

Do you have an exceptional snap from your trips? Share your travel lomographs and the fascinating stories behind them with all of us here in the Community! Get in touch with us through the Lomography Magazine LomoHome or shoot us an email!

@saidseni I traveled solo twice these past months and I think I love it now! A traveler friend also told me recently, "You're never alone when you travel solo" because there are so many people out there for you to meet! :D True that!
