Mention South America and you’re sure to hear raves about Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city in Brazil and certainly one of the most visited in the Southern Hemisphere. Its natural landscapes and cultural charm — and charming locals, needless to say — has earned it the UNESCO World Heritage Site distinction and inspired many works of art, literature, and music. Perhaps, the best known of these is the bossa nova classic, The Girl from Ipanema inspired by then nineteen-year-old Helô Pinheiro who lived in the glitzy district of Ipanema.
We could go on and on about what makes this city a must-visit destination (most especially if you haven’t been there yet), but, as they say, a picture says a thousand words. So, we now leave the floor to our fellow lomographers who have been so fortunate to visit Rio de Janeiro and have taken the stunning lomographs below!
A series inspired by our Community’s intrepid travelers, Explore puts the spotlight on some of the must-visit places around the world through beautiful and wanderlust-inducing lomographs.
