Three Abandoned Engine Sheds in Stralsund, Germany

While preparing for this year's vacation, I stumbled across three abandoned engine sheds close to the train station in Stralsund, Germany. I decided to explore this spot.

As I was looking at the map of the town of Stralsund, Germany, where we spent our holidays, I found three huge half round buildings, close to the train station. Further investigation showed that these buildings were old engine sheds used for steam locomotives.

One evening, on the way back to our apartment, we stopped by, to explore the site. I parked the car on a small road, left my family there, and went off.

As suggested by the road sign, I walked over the bridge across the tracks, scared that the bridge could collapse. On the bridge, I got a nice view of the train station and the trains waiting there for departure.

However, the passing trains put you in some risk. If the train driver spots you, he will call the police and you’re in trouble. So, I made sure that I’m out of sight from the tracks that are still in use.

As I reached the engine sheds, I walked around shed number two to get to one of the turntables.

It’s a pity, the turntables have been demolished long time ago.

All doors and windows have been closed thoroughly. That way I could not enter one of the buildings. While taking the last pictures in an open spot, a train passed by. Now, it was time to leave. I took one last shot then left.
