The Wanderlust Wonderlist: The Most Bike-Friendly Cities of 2013

In this past decade alone, the surge of using bikes as an everyday mode of transportation is astonishing. In fact, it has become so ingrained in the lifestyle of some cities that steps have been taken by their respective city councils to ensure the safety and convenience of everyone. In this edition of Wanderlust Wonderlist, let us take a look at some of the most bike-friendly cities in the globe.

The results of the index were based on a point system where cities were given between 0 and 4 points in 13 different categories: the city’s level of advocacy, the bicycle culture, facilities, infrastructure, bike-share program, gender split, modal share, modal share increase since 2006, perception of safety, politics, social acceptance, urban planning and traffic calming.
