Lomography Guide to Prague: Where the Birds Like to Rest

Prague is known to be a city of hundreds of towers. In this first article for Lomography Guide to Prague series, I would like to introduce you to some places, where you can try to count it for yourself.

So, would you like to take this challenge and to count all the Prague’s towers? Then I have few great places and the best viewpoints to recommend for this impossible job!

Well, if you are too lazy traveler, you can take a little cabin and ride yourself up to Petrin view-tower. That is what most visitors would do. However, I think that the best reward for a long and tiring walk up the hill is the perfect old Prague view. Here are (in my opinion) the best three places for lomo-birds seeking spectacular views.

Letenske sady and Letensky profil

This great viewpoint is really my all-time favourite, especially now in summer. Just find the Cechuv bridge on the map and cross it towards the hill and the park, walk several stairs and then some more stairs, and then finally prepare your camera. If you go towards the direction of the castle, you will find on the way many possibilities to see not only Prague’s towers and roofs, but also the Vltava River with some of its bridges. By the way it is also place where teenagers use to gather, drink and then throw up their shoes on cabels.

Zahrada na Valech

This is the garden which you can find on and beside the walls of the Prague castle. Both ways are quite exhausting, so do not forget to pack a bottle of water with you and try not to go there at 12 o’clock in summer when you have only some possibilities to hide from the sun. But the view is the REWARD!

Vysehrad

Vysehrad is a historical fort, which was probably built in the 10th century near Vltava River. And because it is on the hill, the view is once again great. It gives you the possibility to see Prague from different side then the first two mentioned places. You can see the castle from there, but also some towers which might be hidden from you, when you try the castle view or the view from Letenske sady.
