Being one of only a few amusement parks in the Philippines, Enchanted Kingdom has become a summer staple for the young, the old, and of course, photographers as well!
If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush while at the same time being able to take quite a number of photos, one of the best places to go to is Enchanted Kingdom in the Philippines. Located just an hour’s worth of driving away from the city, Enchanted Kingdom is the best amusement park in the country (not that the competition is fierce – there’s only two big ones as far as I know).
Ticket prices are sensible enough at 600 Pesos which is roughly around 12 USD. It gets quite lower when it’s a weekday and/or it’s the lean season. This gets you unlimited access to all the amusement park’s rides, from the roller coaster, ferris wheel, the 4D movie, et cetera.
What I like best though, is that they have a special rate that’s around half the cost. There’s a restriction of course – you can’t ride ANY ride except the carousel. This is good for me because I’m not really a fan of going on rides. I’m too paranoid.
Anyway, why should you consider this option? For the Lomographic opportunities of course!
If you’re not constantly worried that the g-force will kill you or that the water will ruin your cameras, then the whole park is ripe for the picture-taking! Kids running around all smiles are perfect subjects to shoot! Just make sure to not be creepy, and ask permission from their parents. It’s always nice to see and capture people enjoying themselves or screaming their heads off in delight. Think of it as a poor man’s Coney Island.
If you know some people about to get married, it’s a nice place as well to get some engagement shots. Just make sure to use analogue cameras – if you bring big, bulky DSLRs, they’ll probably accost you and tell you that you’ll need to purchase a permit for that!
So whether you’re a daredevil that’s fond of amusement parks, or a shut-in like me, as long as you have an appreciation for all things Lomographic, Enchanted Kingdom has something to offer you. As their tagline says, “The magic is here”.
