Lomography Day Trips: Austin, Texas

Pegged as the Live Music Capital of the World, the city of Austin, Texas definitely has a lot of sights and sounds to offer that are worth singing about! Check it out on this week’s instalment of Lomography Day Trips!

Austin is the capital city of the state of Texas, and is the second largest state capital in the United States. Located along the Colorado River, Austin was named after Stephen F. Austin, the first secretary of state of the then-Republic of Texas.

As mentioned, Austin is hailed as the Live Music Capital of the World, but how about we save the musical hotspots and locations for later and take a look at some of the other places that Austin has to offer?

Just like any other city, Austin takes its food seriously, most especially its barbecue! One of the most recommended places in the city is Franklin Barbecue located at 900 E. 11th Street.

Another one is the Black Star Coop Brewery and Restaurant at the Crestview Train Station.

If you’re looking for a place that not only serves food but also a good dose of fun and entertainment, then you might want to check out The Highball down south.

But if you’re more for a thrill and a night of great fun, then perhaps a trip to the carnival is just what you need! Crabtree Amusements is a company based in Austin, so while their carnival changes location from time to time, you can be sure that it’s well within reach!

Got a canine companion on your day trip? Not to worry! It’s a well-known fact among Austinites that with its terrain and charm, Red Bud Isle is the best place to take your precious pooch out for an exercise.

Did we miss your favorite spot? Then tell us! If you’d like to share your favorite location, and see it published here in the Magazine, feel free to send them in as a submission!
