ReeLocations: Ubud, Bali

After staying in Ubud for three weeks last year, I realized that I didn't get to shoot and make a movie out of it because I have no Lomokino at that time. But then, Ubud is such a perfect place to relax and enjoy every minute of it!

Apart from the fact that Ubud is a must-visit tourist spot in Bali, it is the perfect place to relax yourself and get inspired — because here, you’ll see and feel something different. At first, I didn’t believe the books that I read before I went to Ubud (basically telling me “this and that and all that cliche stuff about Bali”).

After three nights in Ubud, a certain feeling just stumbled upon me! Balinese people called it Taksu. I don’t know exactly what it meansk but the local people simply tell me to just feel it.

As I did my fieldwork there, I always found myself walking around Ubud. That routine stayed with me for three weeks — walking around Ubud with my cameras, trying to capture and document what is Ubud to me.

Through my own eyes, I immediately fell in love with its laid back everyday life. It’s far, far away from the city I live in (Bandung), but Ubud really caught my heart as I’m always inspired and keep on shooting the daily life of Ubudian.

Here’s some places if you want to make a short movie or mini-movie!

If that’s enough, here’s some street scenes if you want to do a mini-movie about Ubud through the streets!

If you find yourself in Ubud this year, don’t forget to bring the Lomokino, if you have one, and shoot! The aura that embraces Ubud is truly different from that in other parts of Bali. It feels so authentic, warm, friendly and spiritual. The atmosphere allows me to escape the pressures of urban life and I can let my imagination can carry me anywhere as I gaze into the blue sky with pure white clouds harmoniously drifting by.
