Vallvidrera Marsh: A Place To Relax Near Barcelona

Plenty of people who live in a big city would love to have a quiet place on the countryside -- a nice place to relax and disconnect from the daily stress of city life. Preferably, this place is located just minutes from the city center and can easily be reached by public transport. Well, if you live in Barcelona you're in luck, because this place exists.

Located only 15 minutes away from the center of Barcelona, the Vallvidrera Marsh is a little piece of heaven. Originally established to collect the rainwater from the Collserola mountain range, this site has converted into a beautiful green zone. The marsh is now home to a great variety of amphibians.

Vallvidrera is a peaceful place that invites you to relax. Children and pets are welcome, as long as they respect nature and its inhabitants.

There are several trails in the area for hiking or riding your bike. Or if you don’t feel like being active you can just relax, read a book, or take some pictures.

During the weekend it gets more crowded as people tend to come here with friends and family to have a picnic. But midweek, you can enjoy this quiet place to the fullest.

Any time of the year is a good time to visit the marsh, but spring is without a doubt the best moment. When everything is covered in green, it creates a unique atmosphere. And in the evening, the courtship songs of frogs and toads make for a very peculiar soundtrack.

If you’re curious enough to go check out this place for yourselves someday, maybe we’ll run in to each other there!
