Shelly Beach: One of Australia's Finest Golden Sand Beaches

Shelly Beach is a long stretch of beach on the NSW Central Coast, Australia. It has golden sand and a safe, sheltered area for families and people who just want to take a dip in the ocean, and in the open northern end, you will see many surfers and bodyboarders out. I was lucky enough to grow up only 5 minutes away from this beach and have many great memories of it.

This beach isn’t necessarily the best in the area, but it is my favourite for a number of reasons. Firstly, dogs are allowed to walk on the northern side of the beach. They are meant to still be kept on a leash, but some owners know that their dog is well-behaved so you will see dogs running into the water chasing after sticks or balls all the time.

My next reason why this is my favourite beach is that it has good amenities: showers to get the salt water off (if they are on because of water restrictions), a cafe and take away food place, the surf club, plenty of parking and park benches to sit and watch the day go by from.

Another reason why I love this beach is the sand dunes. I have many fond memories as a child running up then jumping off the dunes, you can see here that my boyfriend still is big child-at-heart here.

Australia is kinda famous for its beautiful white sand beaches, and with the majority of the population living on the coast, you’ll most likely find yourself at the beach at one stage or another. Make sure you make the most of it by jumping in the water and soaking in some sun, not too much though, you don’t want to get sunburnt!
