Winter Wonderland: The Colours of Coombe Park, Coventry

When I was in Coventry last month, I had a lovely walk in the winter sunshine in a park in my hometown of Coventry. See after the jump for my location and photos from the day.

Having lived in Coventry for the best part of 20 years, I have been to Coombe Abbey Country Park more times than I can count. It is an ideal place to go for a walk (it is very popular with dog walkers), take your kids to go play in one of the play areas or just relax on a bench and feed the ducks. I like the park because it is close to the city centre, just 5 miles out, but it feels like you are right in the heart of the countryside. If you want to visit the park, it is located on Brinklow Road in Binley.

The park is open all day every day, regardless of the season, which makes this a lovely place to go walking even in the winter months. There is also a large section for birdwatching, which is even popular with the professionals. There is also a hotel set in the grounds of the park, which used to be a monastery dating back to the 12th century. It is not just a hotel for people to stay over in, but they also host music and other events, and do regular medieval banquets, which I can highly recommend.
