After my article about the tiny airport of Como, I present to you some photos taken with my Zorki 4 representing an interesting public event organized by the staff of the same airport: flights on a braked balloon for the anniversary of the Aero Club!
The local Aero Club was established two decades after the first flight in Como". And in the occasion of the 80th anniversary of this club, an interesting event was organized: everyone would be able to taste the joy of flying in a braked balloon (anchored with some cables) in the park of the wonderful Villa Olmo.
Here you can see two seaplanes of the local Aero Club with its tiny airport on the lake:
You can see the wonderful background of the mountains of the Italian Pre-Alps which, in my opinion, made my lake one of the most beautiful of Italy. This lake has been the set of the masterpiece novel “The Betrothed” (“I promessi sposi”) of the famous writer Alessandro Manzoni.
Everyone wanted to go up in the air, children and adults!
Even in a black and white photo, the flame of the balloon is well visible against the dark cloth!
The balloon took flight, to the delight of all!
For safety reasons, and to allow a prompt landing (allowing more flight for more people), the balloon was anchored to the ground by some steel cables.
The same event is repeated on several occasions. For example, last year the balloon was set up during the Christmas holidays and at other times is set up for charity events.
Surely, you are curious about the colour of the balloon: it is dark blue, a colour symbol of my city and also the colour of the local football team! The blue colour also recalls the waters of the lake, the deepest in Italy. Its waters always appear dark in colour.
All these photos (except the photo of the seaplane on the lake) were taken with my Zorki 4 camera and a Jupiter 8 lens, using an Ilford HP5 film. The other photo was taken with my Zenit 122.
