Having a leisurely afternoon tea is one of life’s greatest pleasures. But what makes it more meaningful is spending the afternoon on a weekday with your loved one.
My wife and I enjoy afternoon tea. It allows us to wind down, and take a moment to appreciate what we have. As such, I delight in being able to bring my wife out for meals.
Unfortunately, it’s not easy for both my wife and I to find the time to take a weekday off to spend an afternoon together due to work demands; we rarely have the chance to eat together during the weekdays.
We have read much about Singapore’s Ritz Carlton Millenia Hotel’s afternoon tea at the Chihuly Lounge. It became one of the places that we wanted to try but didn’t have the time to do so. But a couple of weeks ago, both of us took leave from work and celebrated our day by spending a leisurely afternoon tea together at Singapore’s 6-star hotel.
I’ve been to the Chihuly Lounge before for business meetings, but I did not realise just how spacious the place was and how high the ceiling was.
The place was open, with lots of light entering the lounge.
This was a good thing as I was already planning to take photos of my leisurely afternoon tea with my wife. Being a weekday afternoon, the place was not crowded. There were still tables available for walk-ins.
Here’s what excited us about the Chihuly Lounge’s afternoon tea, the Lounge offers an 8-course afternoon tea set, which starts with a tea mocktail, crackers with XO sauce.
This was followed by a slice of beef wellington.
Naturally, tea will be served too.
And this was before getting to the cakes, pastries and sandwiches served on a 3-tiered platter.
What took the cake was the dessert trolley, where you can choose whatever you want, or if you are so inclined, to try a piece of everything from cookies to pralines!
My wife and I enjoyed the Chihuly Lounge experience. Not just because the food was great, but because we were able to spend time together and smell the roses.
