Urban Adventures: The City Of Monkeys: Lopburi

Definitely, the city usually full of the buildings, right? But today I proudly present my hometown, Lopburi, the city where you can live with monkeys and see them along the street surrounding that town. Enjoy!

Lopburi (Thai: ลพบุรี) is one of the central provinces (changwat) of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (clockwise from north) Phetchabun, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Ang Thong, Sing Buri and Nakhon Sawan. Now I’m kind of busy in Bangkok, due to the fact my hometown is not far from there, I could go back to my home often. Moreover, I had got a new camera, LC-A+. It’s pretty cool and pushes me to go out shooting!

This is my first roll loaded with Lomography Redscale 50-200 ISO film. Firstly, I was confronted with my shutter window problem, because when I took a photo in less light, the shutter window was not opened, while the light meter was fine. But luckily, that problem went away automatically. I think that because of electric thing in the camera, after you put the batteries in, sometimes, it needed time to get ready. I tried to press the shutter in less light until everything was fine, and held the shutter window open for a while (it depends on light condition). You have to hear two clicks. So I used this roll for checking the results!

Back to Lopburi. It is full of monkeys in the city, also along the street. However, when you have a chance to go here ,don’t miss the landmark of this city: Phra Prang Sam Yot! (พระปรางค์สามยอด) The compound comprises three prangs linked to one another by a corridor. In the reign of King Narai the Great, Phra Prang Sam Yot was renovated as a Buddhist temple. Inside of it is enshrined a sandstone Buddha image in the subduing Mara posture, presenting the early Ayutthaya style of art.

You can see other ancient buildings in this city as well, of course you can see the monkeys with it.

Furthermore, Lopburi has many restaurants in the city, not far from Phra Prang Sam Yot. That day I went to “Kai Tong” cafe for some coffee and noodles. That is a cool place and has delicious dishes that you should try !

When you guys come here, please bring your beloved Lomo camera, and take some shots with the monkeys, and you will be impressed that the city has more “buildings”. :)
