End of Summer: A Tour to Beautiful Ang Thong National Marine Park

Ang Thong National Marine Park consists of 42 islands in the Gulf of Thailand. It is located in the north west of Koh Samui. There are limestone mountains, beaches, coves, and lakes for visitors to explore.

My boyfriend and I one day went for a kayaking and sightseeing tour of Ang Thong Marine Park, during our holiday in Koh Samui, Thailand. Our journey started with some light breakfast provided on board. The ride to Ang Thong National Marine Park was pleasant. When we arrived at Ang Thong Natinal Marine Park, we started kayaking along the coastline. It was about forty to fifty minutes of kayaking before we reached Mae Koh Island.

At Mae Koh Island, we climbed up some staircases to the emerald salt water lake, which is also known as “Talay Nai”. The green lagoon is a large natural pond surrounded by limestone cliffs and is linked by an underground tunnel connecting with the sea.

After visiting the green lagoon, we were transferred back to our high-speed catamaran in a longtail boat. We had our lunch on board. The lunch was included in our tour package.

We went to Wua Ta Lap Island after lunch. Visitors were given a choice to do more kayaking, relax on the beach, hike to the Lotus Cave or climb to the top view point. My boyfriend and I chose to climb to the top view point. We walked on a nature trail following a rope. The last part of the walk was difficult as we needed to climb up some steep and sharp rocks. We managed to reach the top in the end, and were rewarded with a fascinating view of the islands.

We had some time to walk around the beach before the longtail boat sent us back to our boat again. Before our departure, visitors were given the chance to jump off the high-speed catamaran into the sea. I didn’t do that as I can’t swim but it was fun to watch.

It was an amazing tour and I enjoyed myself very much. It is definitely one of the great memories of my summers past!
