Memories of Summer: Diana F+ Goes to OBX

As autumn creeps in, the cool temperatures keep us wishing for the bright and sunny summer days. Reminisce about the warm weather through these summery photos after the jump.

As fall and winter are fast approaching the Midwest, the cool temperatures make everyone miss summer. These photos from a recent trip to the Outer Banks, are a reminder of the warm temperatures that will soon be behind us. This is the season when I think lomographs look their best; taken outside on a bright day, with good contrast and saturated colors.

The Outer Banks (also known as OBX) is a 200-mile long strip of narrow islands off the coast of North Carolina. Last month, I traveled here with six of my close friends, renting a beachfront house on the ocean side of Nags Head. We spent most days (and nights) on the beach behind our house, but also traveled up and down Hatteras Island through the Cape Hatteras National Seashore to Rodanthe, scoped out an eerie abandoned water park, and saw a couple of lighthouses.

One of my rolls came out loosely wound around the spool, also known as a Fat Roll. Look at those light leaks!

And of course, my love for analogue photography isn’t just limited to medium-format, I also brought along my folding SX-70, loaded with some film via my compatriots at The Impossible Project. Check out these photos:

Where did everyone else traveled to for the summer? I want to see some more bright, colorful photos to remind me of my favorite season.
