Hong Kong: Bright Lights, Big City

Hong Kong is bubbling with energy, filled with city charm, and sounds that are loud enough to deafen you. Situated on China's south coast, enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea, Hong Kong is one of two special administrative regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China.

It is known for its expansive skyline, deep natural harbor, and is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

While in Hong Kong, be sure to wander around the narrow alleys and confusing maze of streets. It is there you will find locals going about their everyday lives, hawking their wares, and where you can feast your eyes on the most ordinary yet poignant moments: the fishmonger negotiating with a housewife; a roast duck glistening attractively behind the glass counter; a beggar kneeling on the street, or perhaps a shopkeeper waiting to pass the time.

Sheung Wan is a famous tourist street that’s always busy with foreigners and locals alike. While you are there, be sure to make a trip to the Lomography Store in Hong Kong, just off Sheung Wan at Po Yan Street. Behind the pillars, you will find the locals reading papers or dozing off. As you enter the store, you are welcomed by the enormous LC-A+ near the counter, and an array of Lomography products, the most extensive you can imagine. Remember to get a souvenir while you’re there – a Lomography bag with the Hong Kong lomostore logo perhaps? It would serve as a most pleasant memory.
