What better way to end the summer than to spend a week in the Hamptons? How about spending a week with friends and family in the Hamptons right on the harbor where you could go clamming and kayaking and drink beer all day. That was basically my end-of-summer vacation this year.

My dad has a friend with a house out in the Hamptons on Long Island and offered us to spend a week there this summer so we, of course, took her up on the offer. Her house was right on the harbor – Napeague Harbor to be exact.
We stayed at this lovely wooden house that was bought in 1979. It was expanded upwards since its original structure. I loved looking out the square windows. I took this photo one evening during sunset.

We spent most of our days going out into the bay with these rakes used for clamming. The first day, we caught nearly 40 clams! With half, we made linguini with clams the first night, and then clam chowder the following night.
The clams were huge – about the size of your hand; and we got three buckets of ’em!

We also did a little bit of kayaking in the harbor.
The best part of being right on Napeague Harbor was that the sun sets right on the bay and with the neighbor’s boat right out back, it was picture perfect!

So, as it turned out, I have a friend who also has a place out in the Hamptons about an hour west of Napeague Harbor and she happened to be staying there the same week. So, a few days into the week, we decided to go meet her in Quogue and hang out.

While in Quogue, we took a trip, not far, to Westhampton Beach where we spent the day. The weather was perfect and the water was nice and refreshing!
We especially had a lot of fun in the water.
To sum it up, it was a great last week of summer fun with friends and family!
