Black and White Paris

I have spent ten months in Paris participating in the exchange program called Erasmus. I knew before going, that Paris is an amazing and beautiful city. I had been there before and I have already wrote about my favorite places in Paris, but this time, let me show something a little different...Have a look!

Many photographs have been taken of Paris. Every corner, every street, every square and building have been the subject of many photographs and even though we are able to find prettier photos each time every single one seems to show us something different…as if the beauty of Paris was constantly renewed before our eyes. A beauty capable of making us feel more human, more gentle, and happy…

Having said this, what I have to show you; you might have already seen probably many, many times in color or in B&W, but I want to show it to you again. To show you this beauty and this elegance, that I was able to capture on film during my ten months there. These are ordinary photos of Paris but at the same time, they are my photos of Paris, my moments, my Paris. So this is also going to be a little, my own guide of Paris for you. I hope you like it!

I could not, not start without the Eiffel Tower. I must tell you, it attracts so many tourists that it is almost impossible to visit sometimes, but every one should still make the effort.

My Paris has music, little boats that children can rent to play in, the fountains of the Luxembourg Garden, or people protesting for their rights:

It has modern buildings/pieces next to old and very important monuments:

I remember those long walks that some friends and I would take, going down on the Montmartre Quartier from the Sacré Coeur or going up to Arc du Triomphe to see the views and lights (at night) of the Champs Elysées:

I loved buying some little Tarte aux Fraises and take it to eat at the Jardin des Buttes-Chaumont, my favorite garden in Paris or go read with some friends to the little garden that you can find next to Pont Neuf while smoking some cigarettes:

My Paris has a graveyard where people take bottles of wine to Jim Morrison or give kisses to Oscar Wilde. You can find a tree next to Jim Morrison’s grave covered by chewing gum.

You should try to visit all the bridges, you can find some to be so beautiful:

I had to say goodbye to Paris a month ago, I thought it would cost me more than it did, and now I understand why: Paris is never going to leave me, Paris is in me, in my heart. As someone has once said: “once you have lived in Paris, Paris is never going to leave your heart”. Of course I miss Paris, and I’ll always will, but at the same time, this is like missing an old friend: maybe you haven’t seen each other for years, but when you do see each other, it’s like it has just been yesterday that you said ‘goodbye’.

Hope you can see Paris like the way I was able to see it. Have fun, lomo fun!

Really great article and photos. I love Paris and although I spent only six weeks there as compared to your ten months, I feel the same way. Paris will always be in me and I can't wait to visit again someday
