Diamond Head Beach

Spending free time at the beach is always a great option in Hawaii. Diamond Head Beach is one of the best beaches on the south shore to explore and take photos.

Sunset at a secluded beach with loved ones or a significant other sounds like a magical equation for happiness and smiles all around. Having a plethora of beaches to choose from in Hawaii, how do you pick the right one? Well, check out Diamond Head Beach, and you won’t be disappointed.

Diamond Head Beach is located further south from the iconic Waikiki Beach. By just taking a short drive from Waikiki, you can visit a much less busier beach, but never have to compromise on the spectacular views.

Parking is available street side, but most of an extremely long stretch of road is all devoted to beach parking spots. Once you park, be sure to take all valuables down with you – but don’t worry too much if you can’t – most locals are trustworthy in this area. My friends even tell me that they leave their keys under the car wheels so they don’t have to worry about keeping track of keys during the surf session. It just seems to be the local spirit that keeps people honest and good.

From your car, there is a steep walk down a well-paved walkway. This leads down to the shoreline and the surf. The beach sand is perfectly soft, but not so fine that it gets in the way. Diamond Head Beach is a long stretch of beach that allows explorers to walk pretty far along each way to check out the rock formations or the sunset.

At sunset, you can relax and sit back on the soft grainy sand – take it all in. Because this beach is located on the south shore, the sun doesn’t set directly in front of you, but fades into an incandescent ball of fire over to the west side. This makes it perfect for silhouette shots!!

Overall, Diamond Head Beach is a quiet, lesser known beach that offers all the best options of the most popular beaches. The water is clear, the sand is soft, and there are many nooks and crannies to explore along the shoreside. It’s one of my favorite beaches to visit just for fun.
