This is my gallery of tungsten shots from around the Northern Quarter of Manchester, UK where I seem to spend quite a lot of time lately. Enjoy!
Since the Lomograhy Gallery Store opened in Manchester, I have visited it on a number of occasions and have really started to fall in love with it. Obviously, given that I live in Yorkshire, there should be a bit of rivalry between me and Manchester, but I have really been enjoying spending time there recently. The fact that there is a Lomo store there is clearly a big pull for me and my friends, and a few of our trips over have been launch parties and other in-store shindigs.
When we were over last weekend however, it was such a hot sunny day (28 degrees is a rare treat for us in the North of the UK!) that I decided to try my first ever roll of Lomography Tungsten 64 film. The first place we went to was down outside Affeck’s, which is like a small department store for independent traders in a way, and I love it, and the building that houses it.
There are also lots of other very eye-catching shops, such as this tattoo/clothing emporium and this independent book trader, with its quirky signs about real books vs the Kindle!
The people in the Northern Quarter make for pretty interesting subjects as well…
It is basically a great place to wander around taking photos, go shopping for alternative items, many that you might struggle to find anywhere else, have a drink, or hit the Lomo store and stock up on this gorgeous Tungsten film!
