As much a landscape as a city, Seattle is inseparable from its topography. Locals orient themselves by the many hills, while bodies of water break up the fabric and force shifts in the grid. Random winding staircases are here to be discovered and geography creates cohesive neighborhood centers, with personalities ranging from snooty to strictly hipster. All of which are likely to have several chicken coops, as Seattle is a great place for urban farming.

Seattle is a young city on the fringe of America’s Pacific Northwest. The ‘old’ buildings are not very old, but there is plenty of fascinating infrastructure and Modern design. There is a strong presence of maritime industry, even though currently the major economic forces are software and biotech.

The rumors are true… it is always raining (almost). In defiance to the gray there are bursts of color in the evergreens, prolific flowers, and brightly painted houses. Although there are still plenty of cars, commuting bikers brave the hills and rain. If you don’t do things in the rain, you don’t do anything… and there is plenty to do. Situated between the mountains and Puget Sound, it is almost no time to travel to the mountains or the ocean. This is a major reason people live here and love it so much. Also, it is always possible to see past the edges of the city… to the wilderness or the water beyond, so you never have to feel trapped.

It’s not a big city, but everyone here thinks it’s very important, the center of the universe, in fact. Seattle has something to say.
