Kaka'ako Beach Park is not your ordinary beach. It's set in an industrial area, with no sand, and looks out right next to a medical school and shipping vessels. However, it's one of my favorite places to be at - the contrast between city and nature is simply breathtaking.

Who ever points out an industrial center and immediately thinks of the beach? Not anyone I know, of course. However, one trip to Kaka’ako Beach Park and you’ll be convinced.
Just park in the large parking lot Kaka’ako has to offer, take a long stroll throughout the park, and situate yourself on the large lookout over the water. You’ll be able to take many photos and enjoy the time you have with loved ones.

My love and I always stop by this beach because it is literally in the middle of downtown Honolulu, across from the Kaka’ako industrial area. It is also nearby Ala Moana Beach Park, which is another famous beach.

Since the proximity is so close, many companies use the park for their gatherings, parties, concerts, public speaking, and more. The park itself is nicely kept, so it’s a common sight to see runners, joggers, and everyone in between exercising or taking a stroll.

The ocean is really stunning, and sitting on the rocks is a perfect place to just stop and enjoy nature. It’s also a great place to watch the sunset, because you’re facing west, where the sun sets.

The stretch of water is really wide, which allows you to see towards Diamond head, Ala Moana, and the other closer sections of the island’s coast.

Overall, this location is really unique because of the apparent mix of natural and industrial. Being able to still be a part of the city, while enjoying what Hawaii has to offer is an unforgettable experience.
