A Relaxing Weekend at the Vall de Nuria

When my daily routine starts to become a burden, I try to get out of the city for the weekend to recharge my batteries and relax. Let me share with you guys a great spot to do this which is also very close to Barcelona.

Let’s face it, our daily routines can become a burden if we don’t shake them up once in a while. That’s why whenever I notice I need a break, I try to get away at least for a couple of days and change my mindset.

For that reason, this past April we headed on a weekend trip to the Vall de Nuria to do exactly that, relax and recharge our batteries in the great outdoors.

The Vall de Nuria is a valley located at the top of the eastern Pyrenees mountain range, which is a couple of hours away from Barcelona by car. Once you reach the foot of the mountain, the only way to get to the top is via a rack railway. It’s an awesome 12.5 km journey to the top, unless you have vertigo. In that case, I would suggest you refrain from sitting next to the windows.

When you get to the top, there’s a very nice ski lodge right in the middle of the valley. The views are magnificent, there’s a small lake (partially frozen when we visited), several trekking routes and those amazing mountains.

I’ve always thought the mountain has something special. It’s a great place to relax and recharge your batteries, as well as a perfect spot to get in touch with nature which was exactly what I needed.

Where do you go to escape your daily routine? Let us know in the comments below!
