Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is the star attraction of Singapore's first Integrated Resorts (IR), Resorts World Sentosa (RWS). Since its opening in March 18, 2010, it has attracted tens of thousands of visitors.
Although it is the smallest Universal Studios, it is big on attractions. The park is divided into seven themed zones: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away, and Madagascar; comprising 24 attractions, 18 of which are original or especially adapted for USS.
USS has different decorations for different festive occasions. Christmas trees and decorations are a must-have for the festive season!
USS’ main attraction is Sci-Fi City’s Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon roller coasters. It is the world’s tallest pair of dueling roller coasters, and it can reach a top speed of 90.91 km per hour. It is really thrilling when the red-and-blue roller coasters pass by each other! Due to design fault, the attraction stopped operations on March 25, 2010. After almost a year of testing and safety checks, it was reopened on Feb 21, 2011.
Besides Battlestar Galactica, thrill seekers can also try Ancient Egypt’s Revenge of the Mummy Ride and seek adventure in the dark tombs. To me, the partial darkness made the ride less scary as I can’t see anything.
If you are in town, do include USS in your itinerary!
