Camps Bay is one of the most popular beaches in Cape Town. If you are coming from the center of town, take the route via Kloofnek Road for a spectacular view of the mountains and sea as you head down towards the coast. The area lies behind Table Mountain, between the peak of Lions Head and the imposing mountain range known as the Twelve Apostles.

Camps Bay Beach is large with an expansive stretch of white sand with plenty of room to throw a Frisbee or kick around a soccer ball. There is usually a lifeguard on duty and loungers and umbrellas are available for rent. The beach has been awarded blue flag status – this is a certification indicating that the beach meets stringent standards for water quality, safety, and general environmental management criteria.

There are many popular beachfront cafes where you can enjoy lunch or a cocktail whilst people watching.
