Unique Chin Swee Caves Temple on the Hill

The Chin Swee Temple is located 4600 feet above sea level, which is about a 5- to 10-minute drive down from Genting Highlands. The temple is situated in the most scenic site of Genting, and was built by Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong.

He started to build the temple after completing Genting Highlands Resort in 1975, during the construction of the road to the resort, he found this 28-acre land with a cool rocky slope, covered with greenery and was very similar to the Chin Swee Crag back in Penglai Village in Fujian, China; his hometown.

The construction of the temple is difficult and dangerous, because of the slope and rocky terrain. But Tan Sri Lim didn’t give up; and was determined to finish it. The temple took 18 years to complete and was officially opened on 29 March 1994.

The exterior of the temple is amazing. Rock statues are all around the temple. Every single artwork of the temple – from the top roof to the column of the temple, is crafted perfectly. The artworks of the temple show the richness of Chinese culture.

A large statue of Buddha and Kuan-yin, which are about few storeys high, stands high and tall in the temple area. A nine-storey Pagoda can be spotted after entering the gate of the temple. The statue of Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong is located just behind the small Buddhist Temple, a mark of respect for his contribution and great success in business.

There are also many other traditional Chinese figurines and carvings, such as the famous 18 Lohans, the Eight Deities, Seven Fairies, three Gods of Fook-Lok-Sou, Wang-mo-liang-liang, and the 18 Chambers.
