Spring Fling Series 1: Norah Head Lighthouse

There is a place about an hour-and-a-half north of Sydney, Australia that I call "home". This new series will highlight a bunch of romantic locations that if you ever come to visit, you should definitely check out, especially if the weather is good, like in spring!

If you’ve read any of my Locations articles before, you would notice most of them are set in Canada, where I lived when I got into Lomography. I wanted to start a new series of articles all about my home and thought it would be a great opportunity when I saw the call out for romantic springtime locations. I’m a massive romantic at heart and have loved showing my Canadian boyfriend all the sights that my home on the Central Coast of New South Wales has to offer.

This first installment is of our local lighthouse at Norah Head. Established in 1903, the lighthouse was the last of the lighthouses built in the style of James Barnet. It was originally erected because of the number of deadly wrecks in the area. Nowadays it is a favorite spot for weddings and events and also for bush walking as there are some great places to explore in the area and also doing as we did on this lovely summer day – picking up some fish and chips at a shop along the way and having a picnic. If you would like to find out more of the history visit the official website.
