Located in one of Singapore’s hippest work and entertainment districts, this little sanctuary of greenery is a welcome breather for those looking for a quiet place to bring a date after work or on weekends.
At the heart of Ann Siang Hill and just a short walk from the Lomography Singapore store, there is a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of Singapore’s Chinatown with your date.
This place is known as Ann Siang Hill Park, which was built in 1993 to inject more greenery into the Chinatown area.
Named after Chia Ann Siang, this is a park that is well-used as a shortcut between Singapore’s Chinatown and the Telok Ayer district for people working and living in that area.
While it is small compared to other parks in Singapore, it is nevertheless a nice respite for couples and to get a bird’s eye view of the surroundings. In fact, many people do pop over to snap a couple of photos of the city there.
However, do note that the view is partially blocked by the back of pre-war shop houses retrofitted for today’s comforts.
And depending on which entrance you use, it can be a steep climb up the stairs.
So why then is this a nice date spot? First, there are plenty of benches for you to rest and chat. It is relatively spacious so you will have a decent amount of space to yourselves.
Second, it is a good location for outdoor portraiture, which makes it a good excuse for a date.
And finally, it can be nice to just spend some time with your date checking out the flora and fauna on the well-marked walking trail.
What’s more, you can also date yourself as this is a good place to just chill out and read a book.
