The thought of shooting in a cemetery park would be creepy, eerie, and crazy (?!) Well that is quite true for most cemetery parks but there is one which is neither scary nor eerie. It is the Japanese Cemetery Park (日本人墓地公園) located in Chuan Hoe Avenue. This is one of the largest in Southeast Asia with 29,359 square metres and consists of 910 tombstones.
This cemetery park was built to contain the remains of the Japanese community in Singapore, among the community there are young Japanese prostitutes, soldiers, and convicted war criminals executed at Changi Prison. Notable graves of Otokichi — the first Japanese resident of Singapore, Japanese War Memorials, Field Marshal Count Terauchi Hisaichi, Hinomoto Guardian Deity, ‘Harimau’ Tani Yutaka, Futabatei Shimei, Ueyama Kano, Nagano Saneyoshi, and Karayuki-san can be found in the park.
If you walk around the park, you will be able to come across the tomb keeper (2nd generation), Mr Lim Geok Qi, he has been the tomb keeper for many years. I believe if you want to know more about the cemetery park, he is the one to talk to. Like what I said at the start, you will not feel eerie while walking around the park, so have fun shooting and enjoy the peacefulness.
The Hill of Emerald There's a hill behind Orchard Road, a hill with private housing units, pubs, bars, and restaurants. Well it is Emerald Hill (Chinese: 翡翠山), it is a well-known place to hangout in among foreigners and youngsters in Singapore. It used to be the home area for the Peranakan, who is the city's wealthy community. William Cuppage is the original owner, who rose from being a postal clerk to acting Postmaster General in the 1840s. In 1837, he leased Emerald Hill and secured a permanent grant for his nutmeg plantation in 1845 which later failed in the 1860s due to disease.
Come Down to Chinatown with Tooth Relic Temple Chinatown is a place filled with Chinese culture, Chinese people, food, buildings etc. It is an important and favourite place for Chinese people who have been living overseas especially in western countries. It is where they find Chinese cuisine which they miss, streets with Chinese-inspired decorations (red lanterns, small God altars and many more) and most importantly, people of the same race. I would like to introduce a place in Chinatown (Singapore) and it is a must-see location. It is the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple which was built in 2007 and located in Temple Street.
A Big Road Let me introduce you guys to a street where you can find things that are "Uniquely Singapore". It is Jalan Besar, which is located at the northern side of Singapore. This street is included in the urban planning under the Urban Redevelopment Authority. Richard Owen Norris (1830s-1865) was the owner of this street. In the 1880s, the Municipality constructed Jalan Besar though nipah land.

I have been here before to shoot too. Never thought I'd say this about a cemetery but it's a pretty incredible place - right in the middle of all those landed properties, and so peaceful. Just felt a strange sense of serenity when I was there.
