My Most Memorable Travel Escapade in 2011 Part 3: Point Cabrillo, California

I visited the Point Cabrillo Lightouse near Mendocino in California

After spending a couple of days in California, we headed back to Lake County and passed by the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse, so we decided to take a slight detour to go see the lighthouse. The area is named after the Spanish explorer, Cabrillo, who explored most of the California coast. The lighthouse has been in operation since 1909 – more than 100 years. It is still a working lighthouse. There is a small museum in the lower-level of the lighthouse and the original lighthouse keepers’ homes with some of the original furnishings are available as small museums and for guests to rent for events like family reunions and receptions.

G: What a unique set of images you have of Point Cabrillo and Mendocino. There is nothing quite like them. Innovative is the word. My name is Doug, my handel SanelTop. I am part of the team, the Lightkeepers, that keep the lighthouse and the surrounding three hundred acre preserve alive. Part of what I do is to tell the story of the visitors to Point Cabrillo. I would very much like to tell your story, what drew you here, what you thought and felt while you were here, most especially about your photographs, the story of your pictures. I'm preparing a satellite website to pointcabrillo.org to be titled simply as Visitors. Could I please tell your story? Could I please use your photographs?
