Stunning Cityscape as Seen from N Seoul Tower

Attracting herds of local and foreign visitors, this communication and observation tower from which to view the cityscape has become a symbol of Seoul and definitely South Korea's pride.

Right at the top of Mt. Namsan at 1,574 ft above sea level, the communication and observation tower popularly known as the N Seoul Tower has become a major tourist spot since opening on October 1980. Also known as Namsan Tower or simply Seoul Tower, the N in its current and popular title stands for New – referring to its upgraded look after its 2005 remodeling.

Once up there, one can have a spectacular panoramic vista of Seoul through the site’s many public viewing decks. If you go up the elevator of the tower itself, which you can do for a fee, then you’ll have a 360-degree view of the metropolis as you dine in the revolving western-style restaurant N Grill at the speed of one revolution every 48 minutes. There are lots of interesting gift shops and restaurants at the ground floor to buy souvenirs, hot food, and drinks on cold winter days. Plus the entire area was seemingly designed for great photo-ops. You can also contribute your own locks in the railings of one of the viewing decks with hundreds of love-filled locks and romantic messages.

To go there, fangcarpenter and I rode a cab so we can consume the money we loaded on our T-money cards. We were brought to the Namsan cable car station where we lined up to buy the tickets and rode the cable car up to the tower area. Then we climbed a few wooden stairs to the plaza. The huge tower was so overwhelming when we reached the top. The views were just awe-inspiring. A night time visit to the tower will also promise entertainment with the way the tower is lit from 7pm ’til midnight.

Used here was a roll I previously exposed in Manila to create textured shots for my N Seoul Tower lomographs.
