Just a 40-minute train ride outside of Melbourne is Bacchus Marsh, a country community with old historic houses, farms, and country hospitality.
Amongst the cabbage farms, historic buildings, and abandoned houses are many photo opportunities…one reason why the Melbourne Silver Mine, Inc. members took a day trip out to Bacchus Marsh.
I took along my Diana F+ and LC-A and tried out the new X-Tungsten film along with the Lomography 400CN.
We came across a couple of abandoned houses that made interesting discoveries and a wonderful backdrop for portraits of fellow Melbourne Silver Mine members.
Bacchus Marsh is on the Ballarat Vline Train line, a 40-minute express train outside the Melbourne CBD. There are lovely cafes and pubs in the town, which are about a 10-minute walk from the train station.
It’s a great place to enjoy an escape from the city so wear comfy footwear, your favorite cameras, and plenty of film; spend the morning walking around the surrounding farms and then have some lunch at one of the cafes or pubs in town before exploring the abandoned houses scattered around the place.
Enjoy some time out from the city in Bacchus Marsh.
